This bike is a former Police bike. It was in service till 2002 as a police bike and was decommissioned with 2K miles. Then had two owners. The last owner is a funeral home that used the bike for funeral escorts.

The ugly:

The bike shows some heavy signs of rust on some of the accessories and chrome pitting and pealing on rockers, engine covers, lower front forks. The hand controls are all pitted and there is a good size dent on the rear of the front fender. The tail light is off but we have a spare that will come with it. The turn signals do not work or are not hooked up. Headlight works but the driving light bar does not. The saddlebags are missing the brackets, an easy fix.

The good:

The bike runs great and of course because it was a former factory-built Police bike it has just some special “treatment” from the factory. Overall we believe this bike has no more than 30K on the clock. The funeral escort is usually a few miles and the bike had been decommissioned by them since 2020. It would surprise me if they did 3000 miles in the 5 years but say it was 5,000 you are still at a low mile bike.

This bike is great for a project bike. Anything you want to do here is the fully running base.

Harley Davidson’s Road King is the smallest of the big touring bikes. The main reason why Police Departments use this bike as their choice of police bikes is the agility yet the comfort and ability to carry heavy equipment to do their work. It is the perfect in between when you do not want to take out the big and bulky Street Glides or Electra Glides, yet if you want to go on a trip add a tour pack easy to the quick-connects and you are riding with all the trunk space you need.
