Classic cool. The BSA Lightning invented it, this one personifies it.
The 654cc OHV Parallel Twin, unit engine design with twin carburetors and 4 speed gearbox that made 53 hp at 7,000 rpm was enough to propel the Lightning to a top speed of 115 mph even at 421 lbs dry weight.
This one, it has pedigree, a fully restored bike with original parts, it has seen its share of shows, and spent a stint at the prestigious Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum (http://simeonemuseum.org/), but it hasn’t let all that go to it’s head. It is a reliable ride even today, and still turns heads as if it were a youngster.
Full disclosure, it hasn’t been ridden for a couple of months, but does run well, even though the carburetors may need some adjusting. The hand laced wheels will also need to be adjusted after another few hundred miles, but these are minor considering the enjoyment and pleasure one will get from it.
If turning heads as you ride is your thing, this bike will do it. As you can see from the pictures, it is a gorgeous machine.
